Hello, welcome to part two in this new, short, informative series. As promised in part one, in this note I will talk about whether you should try to produce your video project alone, or hire a production company to help you.

Producing a video internally can seem like it would be cheaper and faster upon first consideration. However, are you aware of how specific lighting will effect the appearance of your subject matter, or how to eliminate background noise? Where do you begin? Do you have a script, and a shot list? Most of the time, when companies attempt to produce a video on their own, the final product pales in comparison to what a team of professionals can provide.

That is what Custom Video Productions is. A team of professional artists, visionaries, and technicians that master very specific tasks in each step of producing your video project; whether it be a website, live broadcast, or corporate video. When you hire Custom Video Productions, you hire a team of people that carry your project from conceptualizing, writing, shooting, editing, and finally, delivering a custom tailored tool to help you leverage your brand.

Next time, I’d like to talk about how to pin point your target audience, and how a video can bring business to your company. Stay tuned…

Welcome back. The CVP team is glad you are choosing to follow our tips on choosing the right video production company for your corporate, business, educational, training, meeting, live streaming event, or special occasion video project needs.

If however, you are still debating whether video marketing is right for you and your company, according to a recent article in “Online Media Daily,” videos posted on FaceBook alone had 59.8 million viewers in just the month of October, 2011. Additionally, this article also reports that 86.2% of U.S. internet users watched over 42 billion videos in October of this year. People are regularly watching videos, and if you want to keep up with them in your marketing campaigns, you would be wise to utilize this valuable tool.

In parts one through three we covered among other things, the importance of establishing a budget for your video project. After all, if you are in the market for an automobile, depending on your budget, you can either purchase a Lexus or a Yaris. They will both get you from point A to point B, they will just look and feel different when driving in them. That said, Custom Video Productions is notorious for producing high quality video for clients well within their budgets and deadlines.

Having a script, is also a crucial element to the production of your video, whether you write it, or you hire CVP’s Emmy award winning script writer to write it for you, it will set the tone for the video, and enable the shoot to be completed as efficiently as possible. When referring to a script, we are by no means implying that it is solely the word for word dialogue of a person or voice over in your video. The script is what outlines your video progression; it explains what type of shot is being captured at what point in the production, and what audio is to be heard, if any at that time.

Also in parts one through three we covered important logistical information such as the equipment list, the references and track records of the potential companies you are submitting inquiries to, and whether or not they are fully insured. Taking all of these things into consideration will be most beneficial and cost effective for you and your company.

By now it should be clear that Custom Video Productions, Inc. can provide all services you require to produce your video at the best possible quality and price, so contact us, and let’s get started. The CVP team is looking forward to hearing from you and learning more about your project!

Custom Video Productions Inc. was recently hired by a large, name brand company to produce a video for an upcoming trade show. Prior to production, we asked them to complete our detailed questionnaire, which would provide our team with more insight on their video project. One of the questions on our questionnaire is, “Do you need CVP to prepare the script for your video?” Their response was, “No, we don’t need a script.” They explained that they would write their own script. Another question is, “Will you need a professional voice over or actor for your video?” Again, the response was, “No.”

The CVP team arrived bright and early at the shoot location on the scheduled shoot date only to find out there was no script to speak of, only some random questions provided to this group of employees by their corporate headquarters, who informed them only a few days prior, that they would be producing a video, and our team would be there on the scheduled date to shoot it.

Here we were, a film crew ready to “hit the ground running,” and yet there was nowhere to run. As the day progressed, we were feverishly whipping things together, and making things up as we went along. This was extremely frustrating and counterproductive. On top of that, when we asked who would do the voice over for their video, the response was, “Our secretary is going to do it.” When we asked what experience she had with recording voice over, we were told, “None, but she has a really great voice.” Now the pressure was on. The client was relying on the CVP team to produce a polished, professional, compelling, twenty-minute, tradeshow video presentation, without a script, the secretary doing the voice over without a script, and they needed it in one week.

After shooting into the night, a wide variety of different scenarios that would take place on any given day in their organization, with no organization whatsoever, it was clear to this client that they really needed a professional script writer to make sense of all the chaos. The CVP team came through. We provided the professionally written, video ready script, and we were also able to convince the client to allow us to provide a professional to record the voice over. But, all of this enlightenment came only after the fact that all of the footage had been shot.

As you might imagine, the editing process was a nightmare, and the deadline was fast approaching. The client was left with no choice but to come to our studio to tell us what went where, and sit with our editors through three, grueling rounds of revisions. Finally, we had a finished product.

All of this chaos could have been avoided by having a basic plan in place. Having an approved, professionally written, video-ready script prepared before the shoot date makes shooting a video extremely efficient, and much more cost effective. Had there been a script to begin with, the editing time, and costs accrued would have been significantly reduced.

This true scenario happens all too often. It is why it is important for businesses to understand the value, and the difference, between a professionally outlined, video-ready script, and a note sheet of random thoughts thrown on paper by someone who doesn’t have the time or the experience to write a script, and a voice over done by a professional, versus someone who has never done a voice over, but “has a really great voice.”

Welcome back again to the “Choosing a Video Production Company” series. In parts one and two, you were given the key elements to assist you in making an informed decision about hiring a production company that can provide you with the best possible video for your marketing video, advertising video, educational video, and or training video needs. At this point in the process, your decision making power is extremely critical. This is the budget allocation, cost negotiation stage. It is important to remember that cheaper does not always mean better. In fact, it usually doesn’t.

Once again, it is important to compare what you are getting for the money you will spend. Does each company you have requested cost estimates from provide you with a detailed list of the type of equipment they will use for your video shoot? If you provided the script, is a script polish included to make it “video ready?” In the editing process, how many rounds of revisions will they allow? Will they offer online approvals, and or can you go to the studio and sit with the editor during the process if you want? Will you get all of your raw footage back at the end of the production?

It is important to not only see what is included in the cost you are being quoted, but also, what is not included. At Custom Video Productions, we are frequently contacted by companies who originally hired a video production company based on the lowest price, only to find out, the company they hired could not do the job properly. They then have to hire Custom Video Productions to save their video from the near catastrophe. The company then ends up paying more for the project than they would have if they had been more informed on how to make the right choice when it comes to producing a corporate video, and choosing the right company to do it, such as CVP.

Adding a video to your website increases your visibility and viewer interest. It personalizes what you do, and increases your credibility. You sell yourself before you sell your product. Having your current clientele endorse your products and services provides more of an impact than just saying so in print. Products and practices gain instant trustworthiness when they are demonstrated right before your very eyes. Video is a more convincing method of communication. As the saying goes, “I won’t believe it until I see it.”

Additionally, having a quality video production on your website showing a product being endorsed by an expert in the field has the potential to increase the product sales. By simply being a moving, three-dimensional, visual experience, video can increase consumer trust in your product and/or service. You can create video vignettes, or “webisodes” with your video, which compel the consumer to want to know more about what you can do for them. It is easier for the busy client to assess what you have to offer by seeing it as opposed to reading about it.

What is your specialty? Why not drive people to your website with educational segments, helpful hints, tips and tricks of your trade. You name it; what ever it is, it will allow viewers to connect on a more personal level with your company. When you have an attention grabbing video on your website it is easier to keep the client at your website wanting to find out what else you can provide. It is usually after viewing a compelling story that the client will click on other links on your page to learn more. They are then more likely to be prompted to take action by choosing and purchasing your products or services over your competition’s products or services. Custom Video Productions can help you add high quality video to your website. We invite you to visit our portfolio to see videos we have created for some of our clientele at www.cvpnj.com. Have questions? Don’t hesitate to call us at 732-936-1001.
